September Super Fan

Thank you Lem Brooks for your support of the Mustangs; you are a Mustang Super Fan! Mr. Brooks is a great supporter of our students and has been a fan for years. He was nominated as a Super Fan by his granddaughters who call him “the Super Man of their family.” He is 92 years old and serves as the crossing guard at West Orange-Stark Elementary School. He directs traffic in the rain, sleet, and snow in order to make sure our students are safe. We appreciate your service to our students and school!

Mr. Brooks was presented with Super Fan recognition this week by Superintendent Dr. Rickie Harris during a meeting of the WOCCISD Board of Trustees.

We recognized North Early Learning Center staff member Ella Barlow as an official Super Fan. Congratulations, Ms Barlow! She constantly shares her love of Mustangs, especially at her workplace. She is full of positive energy and vibes of Mustang awesomeness! From standing at her duty post and playing the Mustang Fight Song on her cell phone for our little Mustangs to hear; to cheering our Mustangs on in every way she can --- encouraging success, dressing as a cheerleader on a campus spirit day, or wearing blue, head to toe --- Ms. Barlow is always eager to share her Mustang spirit. We love Ms. Barlow’s enthusiasm for all things Mustang!

It was our pleasure to recognize Mrs. Bettie Curtis as a Mustang Super Fan! Mrs. Curtis, a distinguished educator, has been a part of this school system for over 50 years. West Orange – Stark Elementary School’s Library is named in her honor. Even though retired, Mrs. Curtis continues to remain a devoted Mustang. As a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she is always eager to support academic achievement and student success. In her spare time, she attends most School Board meetings. She congratulates all of our award recipients and takes time to visit with staff members in attendance. Congratulations Mrs. Curtis. We appreciate your constant support!
