Last night, WOS Athletics held its annual banquet to celebrate the Mustang athletes who gave it their all this school year. Students who excelled in the classroom and on the field received Scholastic All-District awards, a Most Valuable Player was recognized for each sport with a certificate and a jacket, and each of the All-State athletes was also recognized. Congratulations Mustangs!

Special thanks to The Hut for serving up delicious crawfish platters for everyone!

Check out all this amazing art from last night's 3rd Annual West-Orange Stark Middle School Art Show. The gallery featured dozens of pieces covering a variety of subjects, including still life, history, science fiction, fantasy, memory, and more. The students' creativity, technical skill, and hard work were on full display.

West Orange-Stark Elementary students had a fantastic time exploring nature this week with field trips out to Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. 🍃

Guides walked students through the gardens, teaching all about the different flora and fauna along the way. They spotted various birds, snakes, bugs, turtles, and even a couple of alligators! An excellent, hands-on way to learn about the natural world right in our backyard! Thank you Shangri La for providing this amazing learning experience!

Today, WOCCISD thanks our school nurses for the countless ways they make a difference, often behind the scenes. Your expertise, patience, and kindness create a foundation of trust and care that strengthens our entire community. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so grateful for everything you do.

Rounding out today's Cinco de Mayo programs, West Orange-Stark Middle School pulled out all of the stops. Students performed skits to teach about the history of the celebration, recited poems, the band performed some exciting songs, and the dancers showed off moves infused with several different styles of Latin dance

At North Early Learning Center, the Little Mustangs celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a parade through the halls! Many dressed in festive costumes and accessories while their schoolmates cheered them along!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! West Orange-Stark Elementary kicked off the festivities this morning with a wonderful program with performances by the 1st-grader, 2nd-graders, and the choir.

Congratulations to these WOSHS M3 Band seniors for earning full band scholarships to Langston University, totalling $166,000: Adrian Maldonado, Kaine Smith, and Kacey Hogg.

We got the opportunity to sit down with Adrian and Kaine to hear about what earning this scholarship means to them.

These Little Mustangs are moving on up to kindergarten, so they took a trip to West Orange-Stark Elementary to check out their new campus!

WOSE Student Council members guided the visitors through the halls, giving them a glimpse of what their next year will look like. They even stopped by the kindergarten classrooms for some shared learning experiences.

West Orange-Stark Middle School kicked Teacher Appreciation Week off in style with a little red carpet treatment and coffee-on-the-go from Grit N Grind Coffee Shop. Teachers showed off their fashionable fits, living the life full of glitz and glamour they deserve!

The library also got a makeover into an A-list lounge, where teachers could enjoy their coffee treats and take pictures at the selfie wall.

Earlier this month, WOCCISD Board Trustee Linda Platt-Bryant visited the state capitol as part of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Legislative Advisory Council to help prepare the advocacy agenda for the upcoming 90th State Legislature.

Board members from districts across the state gathered to meet with state representatives to advocate for public education in Texas.
