WOSE invites parents to join us for “Boo With a Twist” on Thursday, October 29th, for a fun Halloween canvas-painting activity designed to allow parents to connect and get to know one another. Parents should select the time that corresponds with their child’s grade level, with a limit of two parents per child.
Sessions are:
9:00–9:40 a.m. for Kindergarten–1st Grade
10:00–10:40 a.m. for 2nd–3rd Grade
11:00–11:40 a.m. for 4th–5th Grade

A lot is happening in WOCCISD Child Nutrition this October!
October 1 kicks off the Farm Fresh Challenge! Through this challenge, we highlight Texas-grown and locally sourced fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains served in our school meals. Last year, the WOCCISD Child Nutrition Department was proud to receive the 2025–2026 Best of the Bunch Award from the Texas Department of Agriculture. 🍎
We are also excited that the Texas Department of Agriculture has once again selected West Orange-Stark Elementary to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Our WOSE Child Nutrition team has previously earned TDA's Pear-Fection Award, and we are excited to continue building on that success as we work toward another recognition this school year! 🍐
To make October even more exciting, the WOCCISD Child Nutrition Department will celebrate National School Lunch Week, October 12–16, 2026. This year's celebration will feature a fun circus theme, with special healthy circus-inspired menus, student and staff activities, giveaways, and maybe even a surprise guest or two! 🎪
October will be a fun and exciting month in Child Nutrition, and we look forward to celebrating with our students and staff!

At Monday evening's Board Meeting, West-Orange Stark High School had its moment to shine! Chealsy Mulhollan and Jaiden Ross opened the meeting with the invocation and pledges. Principal Brock McGrew proudly recognized Stephanie Smith, Maria Madrid, and Khelvy Jefferson as the Employee, Teacher, and Student of the Month! Welding Instructor William Hollifield made a special presentation highlighting a major opportunity for his students (more details to come at woccisd.net!). Lastly, WOCCISD Chief of Police Shanter Norman swore in Officer Kenneth Breakfield, the newest member of our district's Police Department, who's ready to serve our students by providing a safe learning environment for all of our Mustangs!

Mrs. Meagan’s class spent this month adventuring in the dinosaur room at NELC. This week, they learned about volcanoes and created their own volcano eruption in the classroom! What a fun, engaging Earth science lesson.🦖🦕
This morning, the G&G Event Center at WOSHS was filled with vibrant colors and energetic music as the Spanish classes put on their Hispanic Heritage Month Program.
The audience learned about the history and meaning behind the celebratory month and some of the Hispanic traditions, listened to student-performed live music, and got to see the beautiful traditional and stunning quinceañera dresses on display.
A special shoutout to student photographers Kyra Hicks and Jamehson Ringer for helping capture this event.

Today, several students at West Orange-Stark High School attended the voter registration event in the library. Students received help filling out their applications and could have their questions about the process answered. These Mustangs were excited to take part in this civic responsibility!
The registration deadline for the November 3rd election is Monday, October 5th. Students who meet the eligibility requirements can fill out a voter registration application at the WOSHS counselors' office.

The 2026 Orangetober Festival is coming up this weekend, and it doesn't happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes. This morning, the WOSMS Student Council, Cheer squad, and Stallionettes took some time to help build up the amazing pumpkin-filled displays you'll see at the event.
