Whether it was in the sand, on the track, or in the air, these Mustangs left it all on the field for the 2026 UIL 4A-District 18 Track and Field Meet. 4th-place finishes and above will advance to the Area Meet in Madisonville on April 16. We can’t wait to see these Mustangs take it all the way! 🐎

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time when we recognize those on the Autism spectrum and raise awareness of their unique perspectives on the world. It is an important reminder that disability does not equal inability. Raising awareness of neurodiversity is the first step toward building understanding and acceptance.
As the name implies, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) includes a broad range of factors that affect each individual differently. Mustang Nation is made up of a diverse group of students, including those with Autism and other neurodiversities. West Orange-Cove CISD reaffirms our commitment to bringing awareness and understanding to our neurodivergent students so that everyone is accepted in the Mustang Family!
Over the years, the autism community has moved away from using the puzzle piece logo. It has instead adopted the infinity loop and rainbow, symbolizing endless possibilities and the wide spectrum of neurodivergence.

Let's hear it for the Department of Child Nutrition! This week, West Orange-Cove CISD was one of four school districts that received the Best of the Bunch Award at this year's Megacon! Megacon is an annual conference hosted by the Texas Department of Agriculture for school nutrition professionals and district leaders. To win this award, school districts must:
✅ Serve three different local foods representing three different meal components each week during October
✅ Host at least one educational activity during each full week of the challenge
✅ Share at least one social media post during the challenge

West Orange-Cove CISD has been working hard behind the scenes, applying for several grants to ensure our students have all the tools they need to succeed. We are excited to share that we have been approved for several grants, including being selected by the Texas Education Agency as a P-TECH Academy!! P-TECH stands for Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools.
The first year is designated for planning, and we will keep you updated on progress as we build a program that provides our students with access to dual credit, industry-based certifications, and real-world career experiences.
This is an amazing opportunity for our students to prepare them for success after graduation, whether that is a path to college, career, or both! We are grateful for the support of our staff, students, families, and community partners who helped to make this possible. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we begin this journey as WOS P-TECH Academy!

Students and their families visited dozens of fun booths with learning activities and educational games that rewarded their math, science, and reading skills with fun prizes! From scratch art and experiments to a planetarium and paper plane competition, these Mustangs were putting in the work to get ready for STAAR testing!
Special thanks to our community partners, the Stark Museum of Art, Neches Federal Credit Union, and Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center for their dedication to supporting our Mustangs.
