Let's hear it for the Department of Child Nutrition! This week, West Orange-Cove CISD was one of four school districts that received the Best of the Bunch Award at this year's Megacon! Megacon is an annual conference hosted by the Texas Department of Agriculture for school nutrition professionals and district leaders. To win this award, school districts must:
✅ Serve three different local foods representing three different meal components each week during October
✅ Host at least one educational activity during each full week of the challenge
✅ Share at least one social media post during the challenge
Winning this award proves the Mustangs' commitment to fresh, local foods and meaningful nutrition education for students! 💚🌱

West Orange-Cove CISD has been working hard behind the scenes, applying for several grants to ensure our students have all the tools they need to succeed. We are excited to share that we have been approved for several grants, including being selected by the Texas Education Agency as a P-TECH Academy!! P-TECH stands for Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools. The first year is designated for planning, and we will keep you updated on progress as we build a program that provides our students with access to dual credit, industry-based certifications, and real-world career experiences. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to prepare them for success after graduation, whether that is a path to college, career, or both! We are grateful for the support of our staff, students, families, and community partners who helped to make this possible. West Orange-Stark Golf is on a roll, claiming another victory as Team Champions at the UIL District 18-4A Junior Varsity Girls Tournament.

The girls were the 1st-place team, with Abril Ramirez placing 1st overall and Melody Grimm placing 3rd overall. Congratulations on the win! Your hard work keeps the #MustangMomentum going!

Attention NELC Parents!

✨ The stars of West Orange-Stark Elementary were shining bright during yesterday evening's STAARY Night event! ✨

Students and their families visited dozens of fun booths with learning activities and educational games that rewarded their math, science, and reading skills with fun prizes! From scratch art and experiments to a planetarium and paper plane competition, these Mustangs were putting in the work to get ready for STAAR testing!

Special thanks to our community partners, the Stark Museum of Art, Neches Federal Credit Union, and Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center for their dedication to supporting our Mustangs.

Here's something that'll make your heart flutter! Ms. Williamson's first grade class has spent the past few weeks studying the life cycle of butterflies. From a hungry caterpillar to an elegant butterfly, the students experienced metamorphosis in real time and were happy to watch their new friends fly free!

This Thursday, it's Teacher Appreciation Night! Teachers and staff are welcome to come support the Lady Mustangs and enjoy a great game of softball. Just bring your ID, and you get in FREE! The softball team will also recognize teachers and staff who have made a major impact on their lives!
