WOSHS Valedictorian 2026 Jose Martinez

West Orange-Stark High School Senior Jose Martinez is no stranger to overcoming obstacles.

"Spanish was my first language," he said. "What once felt like a challenge became one of my greatest motivations. Rather than allowing the language barrier to define me, I used it as motivation to work harder, grow stronger, and become the person I am today."

That strength and motivation led Martinez to become the Class of 2026 valedictorian. Martinez says his faith has always been his foundation.

"Through every obstacle and every accomplishment, [faith] has given me strength, direction, and the determination to continue pushing forward."

Martinez believes that success is measured not only by our achievements but also in the way we treat each other.

"In a world filled with struggles and uncertainty, I strive to be a source of positivity and encouragement to those around me, because even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference in someone's life."

This Fall, Martinez plans to study Political Science at the University of Houston as part of his plan to become a lawyer. We wish him the best and know he will make us all Mustang proud!
