Earlier this week, Mayor Larry Spears Jr. hosted the 2nd Annual 'Focusing on the Future' event, welcoming students from West Orange-Cove CISD and other local school districts to learn about local government.

Students had the opportunity to hear from the Mayor and his staff, ask questions, and gain insight into the importance of local government and how it operates.

This was a great opportunity for Mustangs to become informed about the processes that will help them grow our community as future leaders. 🍊

West Orange-Stark Middle School knows how to spice up schoolwork! 🥘

Today, Mrs. Marie had her class cook up a big pot of jambalaya. Students worked together on fractions, measuring ingredients, and following a recipe to delicious results.

Students also learned about and discussed the origins and history of this classic Creole dish. After all that hard work, they got to dig in and share their opinions of their jambalaya. And let me tell you, these Mustangs sure do know how to cook!

Today we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day!

West Orange-Cove CISD would like to recognize the hard-working secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support staff who play a vital role in keeping our district running smoothly.

They are the backbone of daily operations, managing schedules, coordinating communication, organizing information, and ensuring that all our departments stay aligned and productive. Their attention to detail, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help us focus on inspiring, educating, and celebrating our students with confidence.

Their ability to build relationships, anticipate needs, and maintain order in fast-paced environments makes them an indispensable part of our educational mission.
Please join us in giving a big thanks to our Administrative Professionals for keeping us going!

If you want to see massive amounts of Mustang vision, creativity, and talent, make sure to stop by the Dishman Art Museum where students from West Orange-Stark High School have their work on display in the 'Echoes of the Art Room' exhibit. 🎨

"The works in this exhibit represent the voices, ideas, and imaginations of local middle and high school artists around our community. Each piece is an echo of the moments they spent creating. Moments of experimentation, quiet focus, laughter with classmates, and discovery of personal expression.

Behind each of these artists is an art teacher who has taken the time to build a space where students feel safe, seen, and inspired."

Don't miss your chance to see these works in person; stop by the Dishman Art Museum at Lamar University today before 4 p.m.

Here's a list of the students and their work on display:

Student Council works very hard behind the scenes to be the voice of the student body and represent Mustang values to the community.

They take part in cleaning up Newton Ave with the Adopt-a-Street program, plan homecoming activities, hold weekly meetings, and take part in many community charity events and activities.

Student Council members with the most hours throughout the year were rewarded with an incentive trip to Main Event in Beaumont! Thank you, Mustangs, for your leadership and hard work all year long!

Today, a group of Mustang seniors took a trip out to Lamar State College Orange for a presentation of the FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) program. The program partners LSCO with local manufacturing employees to provide students an "Earn-While-You-Learn" internship.

Students accepted into the program would have the opportunity to work for a local manufacturing company as a paid intern while attending LSCO to work on the degree associated with their job.

On today's trip, students were able to network with representatives from companies like Cloeren Incorporated, Integrated Power Services, and Chevron Phillips Chemical; tour the facilities at LSCO; and hear from the college students who are currently enrolled in the program. These Mustangs gained valuable insight into a clear pathway from high school to high-demand, high-earning careers.
