Caleb Henson always knew Education was his future. Now in his 12th year in the field, he has served our students in several capacities: middle and high school choir teacher, piano instructor, Assistant Principal at West Orange-Stark Elementary, and acting Principal at West Orange-Stark Middle School. Even though it wasn't part of the plan, becoming a campus leader was the next logical step.
"Once I started teaching, I became interested in what was happening beyond my own classroom and how decisions were made, how a campus functioned, and what it took to move a school forward," Henson said. "That interest eventually led me into administration and, ultimately, the opportunity to help build a school that students, staff, and the community can be proud of."
The LSU alum said the best part of being a principal is interacting with the Stallions throughout their day.
"Whether it's seeing them off at dismissal, jumping into a PE activity, showing up for their events, or participating in dress-up days right alongside them, I enjoy being present," he said.
Henson also values the relationships he's built with the WOSMS staff and the chance to create a school community where people enjoy being, feel connected, and take pride in being part of it. Becoming the principal of WOSMS is a full-circle moment for him.
"It is truly an honor and a pleasure to serve the school where I was once a student, then a teacher, and now principal. I want our families to know that their children are surrounded by a staff who genuinely cares for them and works each day diligently to help mold and shape them into successful students and model citizens," Henson said. "When we say 'Best is the Standard,' it's more than a motto; it reflects what we expect of ourselves and what we want for every student who walks through our doors."
