WOCCISD COVID-19 2022-2023 Guidelines
These guidelines are based on guidance from the Orange County Health Department, TEA Public Health Guidance, and
coordination with other districts. Well-fitting masks/face coverings will be highly recommended for students, staff, and visitors of
West Orange-Cove CISD on all campuses, facilities, and buses. The district continues to believe that masks/face coverings help
mitigate the spread of the virus. Please click on the following link for additional details about how each campus will strive to mitigate
the spread of COVID-19: https://www.woccisd.net/apps/pages/covid19

❖ SUSPECTED Students (COVID-19 symptoms)
• Quarantine for at least 5 days after symptom onset, fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever
suppressing medications, and other symptoms have improved. Testing is recommended on day 5.
❖ EXPOSED Students
• Notify the campus nurse/principal (who will notify CCM).
• Quarantine may not be necessary. If you choose to quarantine, you must provide a note stating a
return date. Per policy, a doctor’s excuse will be required for absences longer than five days. Please
note that excused absences will also count against the 90% attendance requirement for credits.
Well-fitting masks are highly recommended through day 10 of exposure with testing on day 5.
❖ POSITIVE Students
• Notify the campus nurse/principal (who will notify CCM).
• Quarantine for 5 days or until you are released by the health department. Students who test positive
for COVID-19, but do not have any symptoms, must stay home until at least 5 days after the day
they were tested. Additionally, it is strongly recommended that students who participate in UIL
marching band or athletics activities receive clearance from a physician or physician-approved
delegate prior to returning to those activities.
• The CCM will conduct informal contact tracing. However, official contact tracing will be conducted
by the health department. The health department will determine and notify close contacts.
• The CCM and campus nurses will chart cases.
• The Director of Communications will notify parents and campus staff of a positive case via the callout system.
❖ EXPOSED, SUSPECTED, or POSITIVE Staff
• Inform your supervisor immediately (who will notify CCM).
• For staff who meet the close contact* threshold with a COVID-19 positive individual, if you
continue to work on campus, rapid testing must be performed periodically for 5 days post-exposure,
with testing on the 5th day recommended.
• For staff with symptoms, with a negative test result, quarantine a minimum of 5 days. The COVID19 test must be taken no earlier than 5 days after the presentation of symptoms. Submit symptoms
log to the CCM or Health Department, along with the negative result, after at least 5 days since
symptom onset, and fever-free, and other symptoms have improved. Well-fitting masks are highly
recommended through day 10.
• Without additional testing, submit symptoms log to the Health Department on day 9 of quarantine.
• Stay at home until you are released by the Health Department or CCM.
❖ Health Screenings
• Daily health screening forms will not be required for students, staff, or visitors.
• Daily temperature checks will continue for anyone entering our facilities.
Updated 8/8/22
• The COVID Compliance Monitor (CCM) will continue to conduct weekly campus compliance
visits.
* Please note, staff who meet the close contact threshold with a COVID-19 positive individual and are in one of
the following groups, do not need to quarantine at home:
• Ages 18 or older and have received all recommended vaccine doses, including boosters and
additional primary shots for some immunocompromised people.
• Was confirmed COVID-19 positive within the last 90 days and has fully recovered.
• Was confirmed COVID-19 positive within the last 90 days and has fully recovered.
