Homeless Information and Assistance
West Orange-Cove CISD has obtained grant funds through the McKinney-Vento grant to assist homeless students with basic supplies for school.
A family is considered homeless when they are without shelter, live in hotels/motels, campgrounds, emergency shelters, and are awaiting foster care.
They are also considered homeless if they share housing or have substandard housing that does not have electricity or running water. Overcrowded households may also meet the guideline,” Dr. Guidry said.
The intent of the McKinney-Vento grant is to supply goods and services to homeless children in order to help them be successful in school. Grant funds can provide school supplies, school uniforms, reduced lunches and additional tutoring.
